The Border Interactive

Produced in Association with White Pine Pictures with support from the Bell Broadcast New Media Fund, The Border: Interactive extended the content of the CBC Prime Time television series online and to mobile devices.

The Border: Interactive saw a community of players competing to collect passport stamps using mobile camera phones as deciphering devices while they searched out hidden 2D barcodes in the real world. Online, players worked together with characters and used the tools of border security, surveillance and decryption to join the ICS team in an original interactive episode shot on set and with core cast members.

This interactive ‘episode 0’ launched online and on mobile devices prior to the television premiere of the series. This rich media experience engaged the audience with layers of narrative, a national scavenger hunt and a community trying to make sense of what it means to cross a border in our post 9/11 world.
